Local officials weigh in on what to expect from State of the State address

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Governor Andrew Cuomo is set to make his State of the State address Wednesday.

We got a preview from local officials about what they expect to hear from Albany.

Cuomo is expected to touch upon the issues of gun control, Hurricane Sandy relief, and state aid for schools.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente says he is hoping Cuomo also addresses mandate relief for local governments.

"Our mandated program costs continue to rise especially in education and transportation of handicapped children, which we pay millions of dollars a year," he said. "Those rates are increasing 12, 14, 16 percent annually."

Cuomo will deliver his speech at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.
