Local organization teams with Petsmart to bring holiday cheer

By SPENCER DAVIDSON

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - 'Tis the season for giving once again, and that's exactly what happened at Conkling Elementary in Utica, Friday.

"For the Good, Inc.," teamed up with Petsmart this year in order to bring toys to needy children from grades Pre-school through Second in the Utica School District.

Customers, who shop at Petsmart, individually purchased stuffed animals to be donated by the two groups, to the young students at their Holiday Toy Give-Away.

Children were able to bring home two types of stuffed animal. One was "Lucky," a brown hound dog puppy.

The other, a black and grey tiger stripped cat named "Chance."

The event was a way for these organizations to come together and bring holiday cheer to those less fortunate.

"It's an opportunity for, For the Good, to assure that children have holiday," said President/CEO, Cassandra Harris-Lockwood. "With the benefit and generosity or the corporation of Petsmart, and the customers who purchased these one by one, we have the opportunity to do that."

It was estimated that nearly 300 toys were donated to the children throughout the course of the event.
