Local refugees help to keep Utica clean

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - They come from countries across the globe, but their home is now in Utica.
Friday, a hard working group of refugees raked and picked up trash at Rutger Park, Steuben Park, Nurses Park, Copernicus Park, Martin Luther King Park and the surrounding area of the Utica Adult Learning Center.
They did so to show pride in the city that has accepted them as one of its own.
"They take pride in Utica, and we came out and they were picking up stuff as we were walking along the streets," said Jen Sadallah of the Adult Learning Center. "They just want to make Utica look great."
The refugees are students at the Adult Learning Center, also known as the Refugee Center.

The cleanup was also a way for the refugees to celebrate the Earth on Arbor Day.
