Local talent to be featured on American Idol

(WKTV) - Following the prime-time television appearances of local celebrities, Leon Etienne and Romy Low on America's Got Talent, and Shawn "Big Sexy" Smith on The Voice, the Greater Utica area will be represented once again on this season of American Idol.

Kari Crimmins, of Whitesboro, Kaitlyn Jackson, of Norwich, and Ethan Harris, of New Hartford are all expected to appear on the hit show during the audition episodes, with their hopes of being the next 'Idol,' on the line.

According to sources close to the contestants, Crimmins and Jackson may make an appearance during the January 15th episode of the national hit show, while Harris will be featured the following week on the 22nd.

Crimmins is no stranger to WKTV. She is a former intern at the station, who went on to study Theater and Mass Communications at SUNY Oneonta before graduating with a degree in both in 2010.

Jackson and Harris, have actually performed on stage together in the past, singing a duet of the Grease hit, "You're the One that I Want," at the Oneonta Theater in December 2013, before both pursuing their dreams to make it onto the show.

While there is no positive confirmation on when each contestant will be featured, nor how far in the competition they each have gotten, this season of American Idol is sure to be an interesting one for the Mohawk Valley region, as residents get to cheer on local talent on national TV once again.
