NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Local residents walked to and from New Hartford High School in an attempt to stomp out Alzheimer's Disease, Sunday.

The Greater Utica Walk to End Alzheimer's drew more than 500 walkers for a 3 mile trek around town.

Participants were able to raise more than $44,000 towards fighting the disease, including one team that raised more than $2,800 on their own.

The money raised in Sunday's event will help support the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, which provides support to families in the greater Utica area.
