(WKTV) - A Lowville man was killed in an accident Wednesday morning near the Town of Harrisburg, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office said.
Perry Steria, 71, of Lowville was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to officials, about 9 a.m. Wednesday, Steria was driving north on State Route 12 in the Town of Harrisburg when he tried to stop for a vehicle that was attempting to make a left into driveway. When Steria hit his brakes, he lost control of his vehicle, which slid into the southbound lane, striking another car.
The driver of the second car, Thomas Vincent of Brownville, and his passenger, Ann Vincent of Brownville, were taken to Lewis County General Hospital, where they were treated for the injures and released.
Steria's passenger, 64-year-old Beth Steria was transported by helicopter to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
The accident is still under investigation. No charges are anticipated.
