MLK School celebrates with end of the year Community Day

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The weather forced some last minute changes but did not force the cancellation of Martin Luther King Jr School's Community Day in Utica on Tuesday.

They moved the party inside, but the students had no problem hitting the giant bounce house inside the gym.

Teachers say it's a way for parents and faculty to work together to celebrate another successful year with the kids as well as let them blow off some some steam after ten long months of school.

Mildred Blackshear, Kindergarten Teacher Assistant.

"It's something fun and the children, they participate in each one of the activities there is, so it's something to show that we together, the school and the community, that we come together with these parents," said Kindergarten Teacher Assistant Mildred Blackshear. "And it's just a fun day for everybody to have fun."

Community Day is an annual, year-end event at Martin Luther King Jr School.
