MVCC baseball players give back to vets, children

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Mohawk Valley Community College baseball team has been busy off the diamond and on Wednesday showed its appreciation for men and women in uniform and for local veterans.

The players sold t-shirts all across the area in order to raise money for the Feed Out Vets program and Head Coach of the Hawks David Warren said that it was a team decision to donate to this particular cause.

"You're in a position here in athletics where you can do a lot of good for the community," Warren said. "Every one of these guys, a lot of them live in our community, but the ones from outside are part of our community now too. They can use their position as ball players to do something good in the community they're a part of."

In addition to the donation to Feed Our Vets, the team is also gathering up toys, books and games for kids in need. They will be distributed around Christmas time as part of the Holly-Days program.
