Madison County Sheriff's Deputies investigating fatal motorcycle/deer accident

EATON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Madison County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a fatal motorcycle versus deer accident that occurred, Wednesday evening.

At approximately 7:35 p.m., Daniel Gorman, 60, of Oriskany Falls, was traveling eastbound on Route 20 just west of Williams Corner Road, when he collided with a deer that was crossing the highway. Gorman was ejected from the motorcycle, and a passerby called the authorities to the scene.

Gorman was then transported to University Hospital in Syracuse by ambulance with serious injuries, and was pronounced dead late Wednesday night.

As a result of the crash and investigation, State Route 20 was closed eastbound for about 1.5 hours, but has since reopened.

NYS Police, University Police from SUNY Morrisville, Morrisville Fire/Rescue, Smithfield Fire/Rescue, SEVAC, and CAVAC Ambulance were all assisting at the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing, and a final report will issued upon completion.
