MUNNSVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Madison County woman thought to be high on bath salts is dead after being tasered.

State Police say they responded to Pamela McCarthy's home in Munnsville after receiving reports that she was punching and choking her three-year-old child.

When McCarthy physically resisted arrest, authorities say they first used pepper spray, and then had to use a taser to subdue her.

A short time later, McCarthy went into cardiac arrest, and later died at Oneida Health Care Facility.

An autopsy is slated for a later date.

Her child is at University Hospital in Syracuse being treated for minor injuries.
