Major storm rolls through area causing heavy damages
WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Downed trees, split branches, and live powerlines littering the streets; that is what the scene looked like in West Winfield following a major storm that tore through the area, Thursday.
At around 4:00 p.m., a severe storm made its way through Central New York, bringing heavy rains, damaging winds, and lightning strikes throughout the region.
The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for parts of Herkimer, Fulton, and Montgomery Counties during the storm that hit parts of Oneida County as well.
Many in the area reported sightings of tornadoes touching down over various parts of the region, such as in West Winfield, however this has not yet been confirmed by the National Weather Service at this time.
