Man allegedly high on "bath salts" attacks hospital worker with medical equipment

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y.(WKTV) - A 26-year-old Herkimer man faces charges for allegedly injuring a security officer at St.Luke's Hospital.

Police say Brian Brewczynski, 26, attacked the St. Luke's employee while he was being treated in the Emergency Department. They say he used medical equipment as a weapon against the officer.

The officer sustained injuries to his face and neck, requiring treatment in the Emergency Department. Brewczynksi was reported to have been under the influence of the drug known as "Bath Salts," at the time of the attack.

Brewczynksi was arrested on May 29th after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He's in the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail.
