(WKTV) - A 26-year-old Georgia man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a shots-fired incident on Oneida Street, Utica police said.
Desmond Underwood, 26, of Whitesboro, Ga., is charged with a misdemeanor count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
According to officials, around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday several officers responded to a shots-fired called in the area of Oneida Street. The person who called reported a red car was seen leaving the area. While an officer was checking the report, he saw a red Chevrolet and attempted to stop it. The car pulled over and the driver and passenger fled on foot. The officer said the passenger was holding his waistband and appeared to be hiding something.
The officer pursued the man for several blocks before the suspect jumped a fence. He was then taken into custody by another officer. During the investigation, five spent .45-caliber shell casings were found on Oneida Street. The owner of the Chevrolet said she parked it and left it running on Faxton Street, and when she returned, the car was gone.
The investigation into the fired shots continues, and the driver of the car is still at large.
