Man hit by passing vehicle while assisting accident on Route 5s


UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Slippery conditions proved to be quite the problem on Utica roads, Thursday.

At approximately 12 p.m., a man stopped to help one of the multiple car accidents that took place on Route 5s, when he was struck by another passing vehicle.

According to officials, the victim was hit right near the Boilermaker Start Line at the Culver Ave exit of 5s, and was transported to a nearby hospital for injuries.

An SUV involved in one of the accidents had it's front driver's side tire ripped off after a collision.

Traffic was slowed down on the highway due to the incident, however, all lanes have been re-opened since then.

The condition of the man hit is not yet known.
