BRIDGEWATER, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Bridgewater man is now in custody after authorities say he was on his roof, while high on bath salts, with an unloaded shotgun, shouting at no one.

Shortly before 6 a.m. on Thursday, State Police in Waterville responded to a residence on State Route 8 in the Town of Bridgewater for a report of person with a weapon, acting irrational, possibly under the influence of "Bath Salts".

When Troopers arrived, they found a 54 year-old male on his roof with an unloaded shotgun shouting out to people to get out of his yard. There were no individuals in his yard, authorities said and Troopers were able to talk the man off his roof unarmed.

The subject, whose name has not been released by authorities at this time, admitted to officers that he did use bath salts.

Authorities said that no criminal charges are filed at this time.

He was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Utica for a mental health evaluation.
