Man killed in Sunday accident in Little Falls identified

(WKTV) - A Johnstown man was killed in a Sunday evening accident on State Route 5 on the east side of the City of Little Falls, New York State Police said.

Russell P. Martin, 57, of Johnstown, was transported to Little Falls Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Herkimer County Coroner Vincent A. Enea.

According to officials, a 2014 Buick Lacrosse driven by Francis P. Kiniry, 83, of Syracuse, was westbound on State Route 5 when he lost control on a curve in the roadway. Kiniry crossed the center line and hit a 2001 Ford Escape head on. Martin was the driver of the Escape.

Martin's passenger, Helen J. Martin, 63, was taken to Little Falls Hospital with minor injuries.

Kiniry and his passenger, 87-year-old Kathleen Kiniry, were transported to Bassett Medical Center, where they are listed in serious condition.

The investigation into the crash is continuing, State Police said.
