Man sentenced for killing wife and staging cover-up

NORWICH, N.Y. (WKTV) - A man whose first two murder convictions were overturned, has been sentenced to 25 years to life, for killing his wife.

Peter Wlasiuk of Oxford appeared Friday in Chenango County Court for sentencing after being convicted for the third time for murdering his wife, Patricia.

Wlasiuk was convicted in 2003 and 2008.

Those convictions were appealed by a state appeals court.

Prosecutors say Wlasiuk smothered Patricia back in 2002, then dumped her body in Guilford Lake, staging a scene to make it look like she drowned in a pickup truck crash.

He has been in custody since April of 2002.
