Man wanted in Florida on attempted murder charge arrested in Utica

(WKTV) - A man wanted in Florida for an attempted murder charge was arrested Tuesday morning in Utica, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Shakiar A. Jenkins, 20, was wanted by the Orange County, Fla., Sheriff's Office for attempted murder with a firearm.

Information was developed that Jenkins may have fled to Utica to hide with relatives. He was arrested without incident around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Leeds Street.

He will be arraigned in Utica City Court as a fugitive from justice.

Those participating in the investigation include the U.S. Marshals Service, Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Utica Police Department, Oneida County Probation Department, New York State Police and New York State Department of Corrections and Community Service.
