PITTSFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A former Otsego County man was extradited from the state of Florida for allegations he bought a bulldozer with a check on a closed account.
According to the Otsego County Sheriff's Office, Willard J. Bruning, 35 has been charged with third-degree grand larceny.
Authorities say that in May 2012, Bruning purchased a small bulldozer from a Pittsfield resident, for $3,100 and gave the resident a check written on a closed account. In August 2012, the woman whose bulldozer Bruning purchased had contacted the Otsego County Sheriff's Office saying she was unable to get in touch with Bruning.
Deputies obtained a warrant for Bruning and tracked him down to a residence in Hudson, Florida. With the help of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Bruning was arrested on June 7, 2013 as a fugitive from justice and was extradited back to New York State. He was arraigned and sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $20,000 bail.
If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Pittsfield Court on June 24.
