Man wanted on robbery charge in New Jersey arrested in Rome

(WKTV) - A man wanted in New Jersey on a robbery warrant was arrested Thursday in Rome, the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force said.

Diron W. Morris, 20, was wanted by the Asbury Park, N.J., Police Department on an arrest warrant for robbery with intent to inflict serious bodily injury. He has had prior arrests for robbery with a firearm and is allegedly a member of the Crips street gang. He is charged as a fugitive from justice.

According to officials, information indicated Morris was possibly living in Rome. On Thursday, the task force set up surveillance at a location they believed Morris was residing. At about 3 p.m., he was spotted leaving the home and was arrested without incident.

He is in the Oneida County Jail, awaiting an extradition hearing for removal to New Jersey.
