(WKTV) - A man who suffered a cardiac event during Saturday's America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk has died, The Arc said.

Michael Wofford was a member of The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter's team during the walk. He suffered a cardiac malfunction that left him with no pulse. Courtney Daviau, a registered nurse, and Dr. Bradley Sklar were nearby and reacted immediately, starting cardiopulmonary resuscitation. New York State Police used an automated external defibrillator on Wofford.

Wofford was admitted to Faxton St. Luke's, where he died early Monday.

"We are all deeply saddened by Micheal's passing," said Karen Korotzer, chief executive officer at The Arc, Oneida Lewis-Chapter. "He enjoyed participating in community events like the Heart Run and Walk. We have been moved by the many, many supporters in our community, including Dick Mattia and his staff at the American Heart and Stroke association, and those who intervened at the walk to help Michael.

"He will be greatly missed."
