(WKTV) - A man who wandered into Tramontane Cafe on Dec. 12 with a serious neck wound and told police he had been cut by two men has been charged with falsely reporting an incident, Utica Police said.

According to officials, for the past several weeks investigators interviewed people in the area in an effort to locate the suspects. Investigators soon noticed the man's version of events didn't make sense. The man admitted to investigators he cut himself in an attempt to commit suicide.

He was charged on Wednesday with falsely reporting an incident. The Utica Police Department is not releasing his name.
