ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Verona man with a history of sex offenses is now facing new charges after authorities say he met a child on Facebook and engaged in sexual acts with the child that he recorded.

According to New York State Police, Brent V. Reader, 32, of Verona, has been charged with use of a child in a sexual performance, third-degree criminal sexual act, and resisting arrest.

Authorities said the arrest was the result of a month-long investigation conducted by the State Police, the Rome City Police Department, and the Oneida County District Attorney's Office, and the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center. Reader is alleged to have met a child under the age of 17 on the social media site, Facebook, while portraying himself as a teenager. Reader is alleged to have met this child in the City of Rome and engaged in sexual acts with this child while recording the sexual acts digitally.

He was arrested in the Town of Marcy, arraigned in the City of Rome, and remanded to the Oneida County Jail.

State Police said the investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Marcy (315) 736-8002 ext 232.

Authorities say they do believe Reader may have had other victims that they are hoping will come forward.

It is not the first time that Reader has found himself in trouble with the law.

In August 2008, while working as a registered nurse in Rome, Reader was charged with "soliciting a prostitute" and "loitering for the purpose of engaging in a sex act" when he allegedly approached a man in the bathroom of the Rome Wal-Mart and offered a man money in exchange for letting Reader perform oral sex on the man. The man said no and contacted store loss prevention about the incident, who then alerted the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Just four months later, in December 2008, Reader was charged for alleged sexual assault of a man who Reader gave a ride to. The victim in that case told Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies that he was walking home on Lamphere Road in the outer district of Rome from a local bar when Reader stopped and offered the victim a ride. The victim told Sheriff's Deputies that due to the cold weather, he took Reader up on the offer, and that when Reader approached the street that the victim lived on, Reader refused to stop the vehicle, and pulled down Carey Ave at the Westmoreland-Kirkland line.

The victim said that Reader pulled into a parking lot and stopped the vehicle, offering the victim $50 to perform oral sex on Reader. The victim said he refused Reader's advances and that is when Reader grabbed the victim in a sexual manner. After Reader allegedly grabbed the victim, the victim said he jumped out of Reader's vehicle and ran through the woods and called police.

In that case, Reader was charged with sexual abuse and soliciting a prostitute.
