Many in Otsego County left without power following storms

By WKTV News

OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The power was still out late Friday afternoon in Otsego County for some 3,600 households.

Roughly 4,000 homes lost power because of downed trees and high winds.

Some of those 4,000 were the McManus family, who lives just outside of Cooperstown. They were using a generator Friday night, but they say losing power was the best case scenario after the tree fell on their home, and better than the potential damage it could have caused.

The aftermath of the storms had two schools on a two-hour-delay because they lost power - Cherry Valley-Springfield and Worcester Central Schools.

Brookwood School never opened Friday due to the storm damage.
