Marcy man accused of attempting to cash forged check

(WKTV) -  A Marcy man is charged with three counts after he allegedly stole a personal check and tried to cash it, New York State Police say.

Lyle W. Cavaretta, 33, of Marcy, is charged with felony criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, and two misdemeanor accounts of criminal contempt in the second degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree. He was arrested Friday.

According to police, Cavaretta allegedly stole a personal check in the Town of Marcy and attempted to cash the forged check at the Bank of Utica in Utica. He is also accused of violating an order of protection.
