Mayor Moracco: Union tools part of "generation after generation"

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - This past June, Frankfort Mayor Frank Moracco had said there was a developer interested in the property but would not go into details on who.

That is when the State Department of Conservation had announced a major clean up effort including the demolition of the buildings on site.

On Wednesday, Moracco stood on scene watching dozens of firefighters work, thinking about the company that once was and what the property could have been. The mayor said, "It's been part of Frankfort. It's put so many people to work here locally in our community. It's seen generation after generation. It was owned by the Johnson family for many, many years before the sale to Ames True Temper."

Union Tools closed in December of 2006.
