By ALLISON NORLIAN

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Cornhill section of Utica received a makeover on Wednesday, as Mayor Palmieri completed his 18th "Quality of Life Sweep," for the 2013 year.

The crew involved Mayor Palmieri along with Codes Enforcement Officers, The Department of Public Works, Utica Police Officers, command staff from Utica Fire Department and residents. They walked around the neighborhood cleaning, sweeping and talking to locals. The sweep focused on Dudley and Seymour Avenue, Howard Avenue and Miller, West, Neilson and Steuben Street.

Mayor Palmieri said he hopes this will encourage residents to keep Cornhill clean and safe, " I expect the same we expected last year its not a one and done, its something consistently we're doing ..as i said before we have to be persistent, consistent and have continuity and i think were bringing hope back to the resident's who in turn will bring pride back to our city frankly if we move forward we need the residents to help us."

The cleanup lasted until 3 p.m.
