Medical Examiner position closer to reality in Oneida County

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Oneida County is one step closer to eliminating the elected coroner positions in favor of an appointed medical examiner. The Health and Human Services Committee voted 6 to 3 in favor of a medical examiner at a meeting Tuesday night.

Now the issue will be voted on by the Ways and Means Committee and if it passes there it will come to a vote before the entire Board of Oneida County Legislators.

County Executive Anthony Picente says a medical examiner will be more efficient for the county.

The issue will be discussed at the next meeting in May.
