Members of "Asian Boyz" sentenced for summer fight in East Utica
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Four teens from the "Asian Boyz" gang were sentenced Wednesday for their involvement in a fight in East Utica over the Summer.
Saw Paw, Hto Htoo and Lwi Pee were sentenced to five years probation and six months in jail. San Lin, who admitted menacing a police officer with a knife will spend the next one to three years in prison. The fight happened in July 18. As police went about their daily patrols that day, they happened upon a scene that would then keep them busy for well over an hour and resulted in several teens being arrested. UPD officers were driving into the area of Eagle Street and Hammond Place in the city's East side, when they happened upon what was described as a very large fight. A girl under the age of 16 was injured in the fight. She was hospitalized and according to Utica Police, was later released. Multiple police officers responded to the scene to assist, as UPD tried to sort out exactly what had happened, what had led to the fight, how many people were hurt, and who was responsible. Utica Police said they had not yet received any calls on the matter when the officers had happened into the area and interrupted the fight.
