Millers Mills Ice Festival in danger of cancellation due to unusually warm weather

By HILARY LANE

MILLERS MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The 2012 Millers Mills Ice Festival is in danger of being cancelled because of the unusually warm winter this year.

A spokesperson for the event says that there needs to be at least 10 inches of ice on the Unadilla River in order for the event to take place. As of now, the water has not even frozen over.

A decision will be made at the festival board's February 2 meeting whether to cancel the event, currently scheduled for February 12.

This would be the third time in 30 years that the program was cancelled due to the weather.
