Moe's and Hoopla officially open with ribbon cutting

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The newest additions to North Utica opened their doors, Wednesday, to large crowds for a special VIP event.

However, Thursday marked the true beginning for Moe's Southwest Grill and Hoopla Frozen Yogurt, as they celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting.

The Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Robert M. Palmieri attended the event, to thank the owner of the businesses for investing in the City of Utica.

The owner also expressed his excitement in bringing something unique that Uticans can be excited for.

"You have the dinner and dessert combo, and people are loving it," said owner Larry Wilson. "Both are self-serve so you can control what you want, how you want it."

This is only the beginning for the franchises in Central New York, however.

With a Moe's already seeing success on Commercial Drive in New Hartford, two more are set to open in Liverpool and Rome. Also 16 more Hooplas are planned to be opened between now and Christmas.

With the franchises committing to the area, it appears that local residents will have a hard time going hungry.
