Mohawk School District announces counseling in wake of student's death

MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - In the wake of the car-pedestrian accident that took the life of a 14-year-old girl who attended the Mohawk School District, the school superintendent has announced counseling sessions.

According to Superintendent Joyce M. Caputo, the crisis team of Fisher Elementary School and Jarvis Jr/Sr High School have met and planned to support family, friends, and eighth grade students during this time of tragedy in the death of their classmate.

The school is scheduled to be out of session in the coming week due to Spring Break.

Upon return on Monday, April 16, Herkimer County counselors will be at Jarvis and Fisher to help support the students and staff as needed, according to the superintendent.
