Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency has grand reopening of Rome location

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - The Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency celebrated a grand reopening of its Griffiss location today.

Over the summer, the building underwent a complete renovation. MVCAA offers family-oriented programs such as Head Start to area families. Officials say the renovations helped brighten an old facility.

"We've been at the Park at the Griffis Park for 20 years," said Amy Turner, executive direcotr. "But the center was in major need of renovations."

Today's event also kicked off MVCAA's fourth annual food drive for area families. Food will be collected from now through Dec. 19.

The drop-off locations for the food drive are:

Griffis Site: Griffiss Business and Technology Park at 276 Brookley Road in Rome.

Also, donations may be dropped off at 9882 River Road in Utica, 1100 Miller St. in Utica, 1721 Black River Blvd. in Rome and at Catholic Charities, 61 West St. in Ilion.

Donations will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through Dec. 19.
