More details released in Hamilton shooting incident

(WKTV) - More details are being released about a shooting incident Wednesday in the Village of Hamilton.

According to Sgt. Worthley with the Hamilton Police Department, New York State Department of Taxation and Finance requested an officer as standard procedure with a business seizure around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Cook's Liquor Store, 53 Utica St.

Tax officials and the officer entered the business, which was seized for unpaid back taxes. After the seizure, there was one shot fired in what police say was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police were not fired upon, nor did police shoot their weapons.

Officials cleared the scene around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. The name of the deceased is not being released.

Police say the investigation into the incident is continuing.
