More information released in Rome stabbing

(WKTV) - Rome Police have released more information about the fatal stabbing of Carrie Werenski.

Werenski was stabbed around 7 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of East Bloomfield Street. She was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Christopher J. Werenski, 46, the estranged husband of Carrie Werenski, was charged with second-degree murder in the death.

According to Rome Police, the two had recently separated and Carrie Werenski had moved to a home on East Bloomfield Street. Christopher Werenski was living on Old Oneida Road in Rome.

Officials say police had responded to two domestic incident calls in July. On July 2, a possible order of protection violation. However, authorities determined that the order had not been violated. On July 7, officers responded to a verbal domestic dispute on East Bloomfield Street involving the two. At that time, Christopher Werenski was arrested for violating a Family Court order of protection. He pleaded guilty to criminal contempt in that case.
