NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Organizers say that more than $9,000 was raised Thursday night at the Freedom Guide Dogs Platinum Anniversary celebration.

The money will help the organization continue to train and provide service dogs to the blind and visually impaired.

Organizers say the money raised was up from last year. About 150 people attended the dinner Thursday night, that included dinner, music, and a silent auction of more than 70 items donated by area businesses and individuals.

The evening concluded with an announcement of the auction winners, a 50/50 raffle, whose winner donated half back to the Freedom Guide Dogs, and a video presentation of the history of the organization.

The event was held at Daniele's Banquet Specialists in New Hartford and was emceed by WKTV's Dave Dellecese.
