UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A day after one man formally announced he's running for mayor, another man has taken his name out of the race.
Bill Morehouse says that after talking with his family, "this is not the best time to run for mayor." Instead, Morehouse was originally planning on running for the office on the democratic line but instead said he will seek re-election as the Utica Common Council President.
Current West Utica Councilman, Jim Zecca, is also running for Council President. Zecca is a democrat as well.
That leaves Republicans Mike Cerminaro, who just formally announced his candidacy Monday, and Robert Cardillo in the race for mayor, along with Democrat Robert Palmieri.
Utica Councilman Frank Vescera says he is also planning to screen with the Democratic party. That screening will happen sometime this month.
