Munnsville woman killed in two-car crash in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Munnsville woman has died following a two-car accident in Westmoreland on Friday morning.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Heather M. Nazel, 20, of Munnsville, was traveling westbound on Route 5 in Westmoreland around 7:30 a.m. Friday when she lost control of her vehicle, began to spin and entered the eastbound lane.

Authorities say Stephanie A. Lenhart, 31, of Westmoreland was traveling eastbound on Route 5 when Nazel's vehicle entered Lenhart's lane of travel and Lenhart's vehicle struck Nazel's vehicle in the passenger side.

Both vehicles continued to the shoulder of the eastbound lane where Nazel's vehicle struck a utility pole, the Sheriff's Office stated, adding that Nazel needed to be extricated from her vehicle. Both Nazel and Lenhart were transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica by ambulance.

Lenhart was treated and released for apparent minor injuries.

Nazel was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

No tickets were issued.

Westmoreland Fire Department also assisted on scene.
