NHPD: Rochester couple steals video games from Best Buy

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two Rochester residents are facing charges locally after they stole merchandise from the Best Buy on Consumer Square, according to police.

New Hartford Police say that they were called to the store around 6:45 p.m. after an employee observed a two people leaving the store with several video games hidden in a hand bag.

When the employee approached them, they fled the store with the video games and fled the scene in car, police say.

The employee was able to get the plate number of the vehicle and police located the pair on Route 840 getting off on the Middle Settlement Road ramp.

NHPD says that when the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, the occupants began throwing the games out the car window.

Police were able to stop the car and recover the stolen merchandise from the roadway.

Those involved were 29-year-old Peron D. Hill and 28-year-old Sabrina N. Williams, both of Rochester.

Both were charged with grand larceny. Hill was sent to Oneida County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail and Williams was held without bail due to prior felony convictions.

Further charges are pending.
