NYS Police Trooper Jim Simpson retires after 30 years of service

A big hand in the Ride for Missing Children is retiring from the New York State Police after 30 years of service.

For many life-changing stories and events, Trooper Jim Simpson was the person who relayed important, official information to the public - from the disappearance of Sara Ann Wood in the 1990s to the resulting Ride for Missing and Exploited Children.

It was actually the ride that was Simpson's final assignment on Friday.

"I saw some instances where people did some really nice things for other people and I unfortunately saw some times when people did some terrible things to other people," Simpson said looking back on his law enforcement career. "But the job was never boring to me. It was always fun. I enjoyed going to work."

Simpson says he plans to stay involved in community events like the ride, and many others.
