UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The names of first responders who lost their lives at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, were read off Tuesday during a ceremony at the Police and Firefighters Memorial in the City of Utica.

Year after year the event brings together volunteers to remember those that have given the ultimate sacrifice to help others.

"As far as I'm concerned, I will help and be by the fire department's side to help every year to make sure that nobody forgets what happened this day, because it happened to our nation and there's still military personnel I'd love to thank, because they're still to this day fighting for our freedom," said Trina Gigliotti, Event Organizer.

The event has been held every year around Utica since September 11, 2001.
