Nanocenter at SUNYIT at standstill

By WKTV News

MARCY, N.Y. - Mohawk Valley EDGE President Steven J. DiMeo stated that the USACE Great Lakes and Ohio River Corps of Engineers issued a decision Monday with regard to the wetlands permit for the Marcy Nanocenter at SUNYIT site.

The Division Office decided that the project does not comply with current regulations without an entity that has agreed to build on the site. The USACE letter indicated that,” MVEDGE can continue to pursue a semiconductor manufacturer for the site and resubmit an application to the Buffalo District Office in the event that the circumstances change”.

DiMeo stated, “the decision is disappointing as the USACE fails to recognize the need to complete physical development of the site now, in order to meet timeline demands by the semiconductor industry”.

EDGE is consulting with its legal counsel, and federal, state and local officials to explore future options.
