National Grid temporarily suspends billing to customers in flood areas

By NEWSChannel 2 Staff

National Grid customers in areas hit hard by recent floods have had their billing temporarily suspended as restoration efforts continue.

In a letter received over the weekend by many residents living in flood-impacted areas, National Grid states:

"Due to severe flooding and damage in your area, we have temporarily stopped billing your account as of July 1 (Little Falls, Mohawk, Herkimer, Ilion, Fort Plain, and Oneida) or as of July 2 (DeRuyter, Truxton, and Cuyler). Depending on your normal billing cycle, you may have noticed that your most recent bill was delivered.

"As restoration efforts continue, we will soon resume normal billing activity for the majority of accounts that do not require further repair, inspection, or other mitigation work. Bills that have been delayed will have adjusted dates to allow you sufficient time for payment."
