"New" Columbia bar gets big debut following St. Patrick's Day Parade

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Columbia Bar on Columbia Street, an old-time favorite in West Utica, reopened just over a month ago but had their big debut Saturday following the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The bar sits on the corner of Columbia Street and State Street and is on the path from the parade to Varick Street, so many people who had never been before checked it out, as did many who used to frequent it on a regular basis years ago.

Owner Craig Hadzel said, "I've been a West Utica guy my whole life and to have a business here in West Utica and to see it prosper and thrive and see he downtown area booming the way that it is. It's kind of exciting and it kind of makes me think about the future and how good we can make the City of Utica."

The owner says he should have a brand new 'Columbia' sign up in the near future.
