New Hartford man arrested for DWI after crashing into house


NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford Police Department announced the arrest of a man for DWI after crashing his car into a house, Saturday evening.

At approximately 5:37 p.m., the NHPD responded to a car/house motor vehicle crash involving driver Kevin P. Mceaney, 53, of New Hartford.

According to Officer Andrew Miller, Mceaney was traveling East on Seneca Turnpike when he veered off the south side of the road, drove through a parking lot, and crashed into the west wall of a home on the Turnpike.

After investigating the cause of the crash, police determined that Mceaney had been over the legal limit of blood alcohol content, and arrested him at the scene.

The New Hartford man is being charged with DWI (Misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st (Felony), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd (Misdemeanor), Operating a vehicle without an interlock system (Misdemeanor), Operating a motor vehicle outside of class (misdemeanor), and a violation for moving from lane unsafely.

He was arraigned before New Hartford Town Justice, James Vanslyke, and was sent to Oneida County Correctional Facility awaiting bail.

The status of the residence is currently being investigated.
