New Hartford man arrested in connection with Runway robbery

(WKTV) - A New Hartford man has been arrested in connection with a May 1 robbery at the Runway, New Hartford Police said.

John R. Dennis, 44, of New Hartford, is charged with robbery in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

According to authorities, around 10 p.m. on May 1, authorities were called to the Runway Sunoco gas station at Seneca Turnpike and Oakdale Avenue. The clerk told police that a man came in and bought a beer, left the store, then came back and displayed a knife and demanded money. The man was given an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled on foot toward Oakdale Avenue.

New Hartford police and New York State Police Canine Unit conducted searches at the time, but were unable to locate the suspect.

Dennis was send to the Oneida County Jail. Bail was set at $30,000.

New Hartford police were assisted by New York State Police and the Utica Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.
