New Hartford teen charged after found hiding under car in Mohawk garage

MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - A New Hartford teenager is facing charges after authorities say he was found hiding under a Mohawk homeowner's vehicle in their enclosed garage.

According to Mohawk Police, officers responded around 11:32 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, for a report of a male prowling in the area of Marshall Ave near Burns Ave.

Police said Thomas R. O'toole of New Hartford was found to be in the attached garage of a house laying underneath the homeowner's vehicle which was parked in the closed garage.

O'toole was charged with third-degree burglary, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in the Seventh Degree and Section 3345 of the Public Health Law for not having prescription drugs in their original container.

O'toole was remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash bail $30,000 secured bond.

The Herkimer Police Department and the New York State Police assisted with the case.
