(WKTV) - Peter Rayhill has been named the next Oneida County attorney, County Executive Anthony Picente announced Monday.
Rayhill replaces Greg Amoroso, who was recently appointed to the Rome City Court bench.
Rayhill is a graduate of Bowdoin College and the University of Virginia Law School. He has practiced law since 1988. In 2010, Rayhill became the authority counsel for the Oneida/Herkimer County Solid Waste Management Authority.
"I am extremely pleased that Peter has decided to accept this position," Picente said. "His experience is invaluable and I look forward to working with him in his new role."
Rayhill is on the Mohawk Valley Community College Board of Trustees and the boards of the legal Aid Society of Mid-New York and Legal Services of Central New York. Rayhill has also worked with the county as counsel for the Part County Sewer District.
"I'm honored to accept this position," Rayhill said. "I look forward to working with County Executive Picente and his administration and I think him for giving me this opportunity.
"I believe I bring a career's worth of experience in the legal community to serve the residents o Oneida County in this crucial role."
Rayhill is also a religious education instructor at St. John the Evangelist Church. He lives in New Hartford with his wife and six children. Rayhill will begin in the position on Jan. 21.
