New Police Chief sworn in for Yorkville

YORKVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - Yorkville's first-ever police chief was sworn into office on Monday afternoon.

Gregg DeLuca, former Little Falls and Herkimer Police Chief, will now head the Yorkville department.

Village Board Members say they decided to create the chief position after the community overwhelmingly voted down a measure to dissolve the police department this past December.

"Well, obviously the village supports the police department," Chief DeLuca said. "When they had the referendum they made it very clear what direction they wanted it to go. My biggest goal is to work for the community with the guys and girls that are here and give them the best possible police department we can do."

DeLuca says his first order of business is to meet with the other officers, department heads, and community members.
