By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y.(WKTV) - If a new study is any indication, local small-scale, food producers can look forward to a good 2012.

The survey done by the National Restaurant Association shows local sourcing in your favorite place to eat is "what's hot" this year.

Of the top 20 trends, the word "local" pops up four times.

At number one and two respectively are "locally sourced meats and seafood," and "locally grown produce".

Number four, "hyper-local sourcing" for example restaurant gardens.

And at number eight, local wines and beers.

One new Utica restaurant is certainly taking all of these elements into consideration.

Tailor & the Cook joins other restaurants like Nola's in Clinton.. and Piggy Pat's in New Hartford also boasting a local menu.

The Foodshed is a way the consumer can buy local at home. It's a membership club that works with small to mid-sized local farms and offer food on their website.
